Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Tractor-Trailer on I-40 in Asheville
The Asheville Police Department (APD) has identified the motorcyclist who died in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Tuesday evening, February 4. The incident occurred near the 51-mile marker on I-40 East in south Asheville, with officers arriving at the scene around 8:10 p.m.
Preliminary investigations by the APD reveal that a 2023 Harley Davidson three-wheeled motorcycle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-40 when it collided with an eastbound semi-truck. The operator of the motorcycle, 79-year-old Richard William Walker, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified.
The APD’s investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are asking for the public’s assistance.
