Bakersfield Man Identified as Victim in Potomac Park Fatal Shooting
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting at Potomac Park as 21-year-old Rolando German Ramirez Vargas of Bakersfield.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), deputies responded to the scene of the shooting at approximately 6 a.m. on February 4, 2025. Upon arrival, they found Vargas with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives from the KCSO have taken over the investigation and are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. A vigil was held at Potomac Park on Tuesday evening to honor Vargas’s memory and mourn his tragic death.
