Beloved Sports Journalist Adan Manzano Passes Away at 27
Tragedy has struck the sports journalism community with the sudden passing of Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old anchor and reporter for Telemundo KC. Manzano was in New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl when he was found deceased in his hotel room.
Telemundo KC remembered Manzano as a dedicated professional and emerging talent who brought exceptional skill and enthusiasm to his reporting. “We will profoundly miss Adan and his passion for sports, as well as the impact he had on the local community,” said Steve Downing, General Manager of KGKC Telemundo Kansas City.
Manzano, originally from Mexico City and a resident of Topeka, Kansas, graduated from Kansas State University. He joined the Chiefs TV team as a sideline reporter at the start of the 2024 season. Colleagues and peers have expressed their condolences, praising Manzano’s contributions to the field.
This tragedy comes just months after Manzano’s wife, an elementary school teacher, passed away in a car accident in Topeka. The couple is survived by their young child. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Manzano’s death, and an autopsy is pending.
