Double Homicide Investigation Underway in Southwest France
A shocking discovery was made in the quiet hamlet of Les Pesquiès, near Villefranche-de-Rouergue in southwest France, where British couple Andrew and Dawn Searle, aged 62 and 56 respectively, were found dead in their home. The gruesome discovery was made by a neighbor around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday.
According to initial reports, Andrew Searle, a retired financial investigator specializing in organized crime and terrorism, was found inside the house, while his wife Dawn was discovered outside near the front door, with jewelry scattered around her. Mrs. Searle suffered head injuries and was found unclothed, indicating a possible struggle.

Local authorities have ruled out a burglary gone wrong or a family tragedy, with Villefranche-de-Rouergue Mayor Jean-Sébastien Orcibal stating that the deaths were “clearly a homicide.” Given Mr. Searle’s background in combating organized crime, investigators are exploring the theory that the couple may have been targeted by individuals from the UK with a vendetta.
The Searles had relocated from Scotland to France a decade ago and had integrated well into the local community. Neighbors described them as friendly and active, often hosting dinner parties and engaging with residents. Their property included a two-bedroom flat that they frequently rented out to visitors.
The investigation is ongoing, with forensic teams examining the crime scene and authorities conducting house-to-house inquiries. A helicopter and drones have been deployed to search for additional evidence. The UK’s Foreign Office has confirmed its support for the Searle family and is coordinating with local French authorities.
