Deputy Involved in Fatal Shooting at Douglas County Entertainment Center
Douglas County, CO – A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man in the parking lot of Main Event, an entertainment complex, late Saturday night, following a separate shooting incident inside the venue that left a woman injured.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) responded to reports of an active shooter at Main Event, located off Centennial Boulevard, just before midnight. Upon arrival, a deputy encountered an armed man in the parking lot.
According to Sheriff Darren Weekly, the deputy issued multiple commands for the suspect to drop his weapon. When the man refused to comply, the deputy fired his weapon, striking the suspect. Life-saving measures were performed, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
