In Perry County, Indiana, authorities concluded an extensive search in a wooded area on Saturday morning in the Oriole/Branchville region, successfully apprehending 35-year-old Alexander J. Carlquist. He was wanted in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Daviess County.
The Indiana State Police, in close coordination with local law enforcement agencies, launched a manhunt in Perry County after receiving intelligence suggesting that Carlquist might be in the area.

According to officials from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting took place around 2:05 a.m. on Friday, February 16, near 15075 N US Highway 231. Deputies responded to a call for assistance from Martin County and, upon arriving at the scene, discovered a male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical responders transported the injured man to Daviess Community Hospital, after which he was transferred to another facility; authorities have confirmed that his condition is now stable.
Investigators suspected that Carlquist had connections to residents in Perry County, leading law enforcement to focus their search on a specific property where he was believed to be hiding. ISP Sgt. John Davis confirmed that a thorough search of the area ultimately led to Carlquist being located and taken into custody.
Prior to his capture, law enforcement had issued a be-on-the-lookout alert describing Carlquist as 5’11”, weighing approximately 180 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was believed to be driving either a silver 2004 Jeep Liberty (license plate: CHJ385) or a silver 2009 Ford Focus (license plate: CPQ532). Authorities had warned the public that he was considered armed and dangerous.
The investigation into the shooting incident continues as law enforcement officials work diligently to piece together the events surrounding the case.
