Fatal Crash in Fresno County Claims Life of Yokuts Valley Woman; Child Survives After 12-Hour Ordeal
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. — The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a tragic crash that occurred on Sunday as 30-year-old Bailie French of Yokuts Valley. The incident, which left a seven-year-old child injured, is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Authorities were first alerted to the situation on February 2 at approximately 8:40 a.m. after receiving a report of an “overdue party” who had failed to return home as expected after midnight. Later that morning, around 11:45 a.m., CHP officers were notified that a young child had been found on the right shoulder of westbound Highway 168, east of Qualls Prather Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, CHP officers and Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a Subaru that had veered off the roadway and rolled multiple times down an embankment. The driver, identified as French, was found outside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The seven-year-old child, who was also in the vehicle, reportedly spent nearly 12 hours at the crash site before managing to climb up to the highway to seek help. The child sustained moderate to severe injuries and was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed that the child has since been reunited with their father.
