Philadelphia Police Officer Fatally Shoots Man Near Airport Entrance
A fatal shooting incident occurred near the entrance to Philadelphia International Airport on Monday at approximately 1:10 a.m. Authorities have identified the victim as 36-year-old Brian Timothy Kada.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call about a man walking in the center of the roadway. Upon arrival, the officer encountered Kada on the South I-95 ramp, where Kada claimed to have been stabbed.

A physical confrontation ensued between Kada and the officer while waiting for backup and medical personnel. The officer attempted to use a Taser on Kada multiple times, but it appeared ineffective. Officer Brian Laureano, 53, arrived at the scene and fired his weapon multiple times after the Taser discharge failed to incapacitate Kada.
Kada was hit three times and pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident. Officer Laureano, a 28-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, has been placed on administrative duty pending the results of an Internal Affairs investigation and an inquiry into the officer-involved shooting.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is also conducting an investigation into the incident.
