Remembering Emmalyn: A Community Mourns a Bright Young Soul
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Emmalyn, who left us last night. Her journey was one of strength and resilience, and we were honored to highlight her story during Maryland Trek 11 last summer. Our team paid tribute to her on Day 3 of our weeklong hike and bike across Maryland.
Her passing has been especially difficult for Bethany Hallsted, our dear friend and the new Program Director at Just In Power Kids. Bethany introduced us to Emmalyn after her daughter, Isla, formed a deep bond with her while both underwent cancer treatment at Johns Hopkins.
Emmalyn’s journey was long and filled with challenges, but her spirit was met with unwavering love and support. Now, more than ever, her family needs our prayers for peace and comfort. The loss of a child is an immeasurable tragedy, one that is impossible to fully comprehend.
As we continue our mission to support families battling childhood illness, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to making this possible. While we hold out hope for every child, we also honor those whose journeys end far too soon. Emmalyn will forever remain in our hearts.
