The LSU / Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture is mourning the loss of one of its true legends, Jon Emerson, FASLA, Professor Emeritus, who passed away last week in Baton Rouge.
Jon was not only an exceptional talent and creator but also a compassionate and kind individual who made a lasting impact on his students. He dedicated much of his career to teaching, guiding hundreds of students through the art of design, design theory, and process in his renowned third and fourth-year studio classes at the RRSLA.
Through his efforts, LSU’s RRSLA became a world leader in design education, shaping the landscape architecture profession. Jon’s influence is evident in the many LSU graduates who are now making notable contributions to the field globally.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of landscape architects.
